ME: I'm in a great place! My medication seems to be doing its job, so I feel good. I kind of hate my job but I don't anticipate that being much of a problem once the next semester at school starts, since I'll be spending less time there. If it ends up being to much to juggle, working and going to school, the job is actually going to be the first thing to go, because school is the priority and because I could spend the time I do have free working on real estate stuff. RP-wise, I'm in the best place I've been in, in months. Maybe longer. Right now, my inbox is hella full but nothing is extremely old and I'll hopefully be catching up again within the next few days. I've managed to stay on top of tags and get back to things in a timely manner recently, and I have all my reqs for December started. I'll be focusing on January reqs in the New Years Eve post.

buffy summers

CURRENTLY: Buffy is in a funky place since Spike got married and told her that he was expecting a baby. Not just because of that, because she has been going through a depressive streak for quite some time now, but that's a contributing factor. She wants to be happy for Spike, and I think that a part of her truly is, but at the same time, watching Spike move forward with his life makes her feel that much more inert in hers. I think it might be time to get her a therapist so that she can talk out some of her issues. I thought that getting her out there, meeting new people and building connections might help, but I realized that I don't want to make that the only factor that betters her depression. Having a good support system is important, but it's not the only thing that matters when you're trying to cope with depression. I don't want to say that all she needed all along was some good friends to lean on. She has a great friend in Spike, and it's not that he's not enough, it's that she hasn't dealt with her shit. She still has to work through a lot of the trauma that comes with being the vampire slayer, and more than anything, she needs to learn that being the slayer doesn't have to be her entire life. She's always been afraid that was the case, and when she was younger, she actively fought against it. As she got older, she stopped trying so hard, and without the Scoobies around to remind her of her humanity, in Darrow, she sort of stopped trying altogether.

FUTURE: Has a birthday coming up in January! I'll probably do an EP for her. I don't know yet if it'll be a vampire slayer type of EP or a Buffy around town somewhere type of EP.

steve rogers

CURRENTLY: Steve has had a nice couple of months of dating and falling in love with Lucy. And that's very sweet, but I think it's time to shake him up a bit. Sam's disappearance will play a part in that, I'm sure. It'll be timed to early January, and the actual threaded part of it will probably be Steve and Natasha sparring and not talking much about their feelings. Or maybe having a surprising heart-to-heart. You never know with those two. After that, though, I still want to bring some action back into Steve's life, give him a reason to use the shield. I have to think of something, possibly to do with HYDRA. It's about time that they up their game in Darrow, so maybe they'll try to orchestrate something for Steve to stop? I don't know, maybe he'll just bust up a base and they'll hit the self destruct button on their evil lair and there will be explosions and shit. I'm so bad at plotting, you guys. So bad.

FUTURE: Something action-y!

luke glanton

CURRENTLY: Sometimes I worry about Luke because I do the least with him, but at the same time, he isn't an especially high maintenance character. So he's just there, mostly, being happy with his son and his girlfriend. He and Eden have been official for a little while now. I think about shaking him up every now and then but I'm not even sure how I would go about doing it. He wouldn't want to do anything to mess up the life he has in Darrow, so if he were to get in trouble, it would have to find him somehow.

FUTURE: I want to tag him around more and build up his connections in the city. I'm hoping that his little family will start to grow, or that at the very least, he'll make some friends.

peter parker

CURRENTLY: I have sucked so bad with Peter. I need to change that. I need to EP him as Spider-Man, doing Spider-Man things, or something. The problem is, like I've said before in this post, that I'm terrible with plotty stuff. But he's not a character who should just be quietly moving along, it's just that with as absent as I've been in the past, that's the way it's gone. He'll be turning eighteen soon, I'll want to do something for that, but I'm not sure what.

FUTURE: For right now, I guess I'll focus on threading him more and making friends and such.

queue

KATE BISHOP: I can't wait, I can't wait, I CAN'T WAIT. I want to play Kate Bishop so bad. Depending on how soon I can accomplish reqs for December and January, she'll either be coming at the end of January or the beginning of February. I haven't decided on a canon point yet, but I'm leaning heavily toward a later point in Fraction's Hawkeye. Possibly as she's driving out of Los Angeles forever.

ASAMI SATO: I initially was hesitant to add Asami to my queue because she and Kate have so much in common. Rich girls with bad guy fathers who kick ass. But I think that Asami's world is so different that I could make it work. They also aren't extremely similar in personality. She'll probably be coming in February as well, if I can manage it. It depends on how demanding school is by then. She'll be pulled from the end of the series, because I don't want to lose the development/closure she achieved with her father. That might make it weird because according to the Powers That Be, she'd already have fallen for Korra at that point, but I'm not super worried about it. I think it'll be more difficult for Asami that Korra doesn't remember how their friendship has grown than that Korra might not reciprocate romantic feelings.

ME: I completely disappeared for like three months! Life got really crazy! I still don't have it all balanced out, between school and work, but it's been more than long enough and I miss this game and you guys like crazy.

Anyway, the purpose of this post is a) to apologize for my disappearing act (I'm so sorry!) and b) to figure out how I'm going to get back into the swing of things. I want to start as fresh as possible because I'd like to figure out where my characters are presently, and backtagging a ton of stuff won't help me do that. But there are important plot things that I won't be dropping. If you're concerned about continuing a thread, please let me know and I'll make sure to tag it back. More than likely, if it's important, it's already on the list, but it doesn't hurt to double check. On the other hand, if there's something we can drop in favor of starting something new, please let me know, that would be extremely helpful.

Use this post to: nag me about threads that need to be continued, discuss with me what our characters have likely been up to, bring me up to date on important happenings, point me in the direction of posts that I should tag into, or any other general RP related matter that might come up. I'll be keeping track of things below.

Isolated and lonely, but starting to come out of it. When she lived on the island, she got to be more or less normal, since she didn't have her powers. In Darrow, she's sort of become all slayer all the time. After Powers Switch, spending a week without those powers, she's starting to realize that she doesn't want one or the other — the normal life or the slayer life. She wants to find a balance between both. It's something that I think she gave up on finding a long time ago, but now she's ready to give it another shot.

I didn't think about any of that before I put her in Powers Switch, it just kind of happened organically, when I started to think about how it all would have affected her, but I'm glad that it did. I don't hate playing Buffy when she's retreating into herself, but it's not the best place for her to be, and it does limit what I can do with her and who I can thread her with. Now that she's starting to come out of her bubble, she's ready to meet new people. It'll still be a long time, I think, before she lets herself get very close to anyone, but it's a start.

future

For now, my focus with her will be to get her out and about, building up the connections that she does have but making new ones too. I also want to give the Monster of the Week plot another shot, now that I'm actually caught up. I just have to decide what kind of monster to start with, and then I can put up a plotting post for people to join in.

Playing skinny Steve for Powers Switch was a lot of fun; I got to explore a side of him that we don't get to see much of in canon and it was really intimidating but also gratifying. Major things that happened were him getting his stupid ass kicked, Bucky saving him from that fight, and Lucy kissing him on his face. Also, Neil interrupting. Also also, welcoming Tony Stark to the city while tiny, he was not happy about that. Then the city was attacked by fire bees and Natasha had to guard the door so he wouldn't do anything stupid. (This one wasn't a thread but I need everyone to know that the Black Widow essentially babysat Captain America.)

Anyway, things have clearly been busy. He's going on a date! It's cute. He's still worried about Bucky! It's sad. Stuff is happening! Wow.

future

After Powers Switch and being sidelined during the fire bee attack, I think Steve is going to round up the Avengers and get down to business. They need to be organized and ready for the next big thing, especially if one or more of them is out of commission for whatever reason. There are also other powered individuals and superheroes in Darrow that they might think about asking to join. But first, basic team getting their shit together.

June turned out to be very eventful for him, with Jason's and Eden's birthdays taking place in the same week. He has a new tattoo, because his stupid ass decided to gift his teenage son with a tattoo machine and then volunteered as a canvas for practice. I've been meaning for him to get a Jason-related tattoo for a while, though, and I think that was such a dumb Luke thing to do, so it's kind of perfect.

Pending the outcome of a thread we have going, he and Eden will probably end up being ~official, which is new and strange and freaks him out but also makes him happy. Other than that, though, he doesn't have much going on. He has, like, two important people in his life. Which, Luke being Luke, makes a certain amount of sense. But it also makes it difficult to make reqs for him. So my main goal for him is to tag more people and build connections.

future

I might get him involved in the Dead Moon plot, if I can figure out something to do with it beyond just giving him nightmares. Apart from that, I should probably EP him sometime soon. I just have trouble coming up with ideas that invite people to talk to him, or make him likely to talk to people. Gotta think of something.

By far my biggest failure. I have done, like, nothing with him. But instead of dwelling on how much I suck, I'm going to look ahead. I'm caught up now, which means that I can devote more attention to doing things with Peter. I just need to figure out what those things are. He'll have been in Darrow for a year in July, so I definitely want to give him an EP for that. It'll probably be a choose-your-own-adventure thing (not really) where people who tag in decide if they want to thread with Peter Parker or Spider-Man.

future

I'm so bad at plots. THINGS? For now, let's leave it at being more active with him. That would be a good start.

kate bishop

Coming as soon as I have met reqs. Which means that I should get to rereading very soon. I'm really excited about her, I keep thinking that I want to thread her off of various characters and being disappointed that I don't have her yet. I already have these ideas for what she'll get up to in Darrow and I just can't wait.

jack benjamin

Pending Kings rewatch, to follow as soon as Kate is more or less settled in. Unlike Kate, I have literally no idea what he'll do in Darrow. I know he'll hate it. But once he's gotten over that, will he embrace his new, anonymous life, or will he keep reaching for power? Probably power. I just have to figure out how he'll go about attaining it in Darrow, since there's no king to overthrow.

STATE OF THE PUPS. FIRST TIME IN FOREVER. LET'S DO THIS.

Me: I'm good! Busy, but good. In a great place with my medication and right now all my mental health issues are pretty well under control. I'm managing to stay on top of school and work at the same time, which would have been unthinkable in years past, so I'm very pleased. Now all that's left is to start exercising get back into the flow of things with RP. Hence, first SOTP in ages.

The main reason for this post is to collect all of your threads. Private or otherwise, I just want your threads. See, along with my renewed interest in the game has come this crazy desire to app everyone on my queue. BUT I also want to be able to sit back and just enjoy playing. So I want to have reqs for March and April secured as quickly as possible.

Buffy Summers: She took Tara's disappearance hard, so she's in the midst of a depressive episode. When Buffy's like this, she tends to recede into herself, avoiding people who might notice and call her on it. Her routine these days consists of waiting for the sun to go down so that she can get her frustrations out by beating things up. Despite all this, I really want for her to build some more solid connections, so people willing to try and break down her walls are especially welcome.

Threads:

Steve Rogers: The quiet before the storm. Things with Steve will remain relatively easy and uneventful until April, when, I suspect, all hell will break loose. Everything depends on the movie, of course, but if it's what I'm expecting, then Steve is in for a canon update and a time loop. Said time loop will probably be set during the events of the film and be action-heavy and having a whole lot to do with the Winter Soldier. All of this will remain vague, again, until I actually see the movie, but I figure a heads-up is in order. If you're interested in having your character involved in the time loop, let me know.

Threads:

1. Lucy
2. TJ
3. Jessica

Luke Glanton: IT'S GOIN' DOWN, I'M YELLIN' TIMBERRRRR. Okay, no, but things are happening. Avery things. And after that, depending on how the whole thing goes down, my goal with Luke will be to get him out more. He's such an idiot loner but he should really know at least a few more people. I've dropped the ball there. If you have anyone you'd like Luke to meet, I'd really love it. We can set threads to before or after the Avery reveal, although those set before will likely come sooner since they don't require waiting on another thread. Anyway, gimme everyone.

Threads:

Peter Parker: SPIDER-PEOPLE. That's basically all he has going on right now, but it's fun stuff. I'm thinking of doing a Spider-Man EP sometime soon, or maybe a regular ol' Peter Parker EP. Either way, here's another one that I need to get out there a little more. Again, gimme everyone.

Threads:

1. Abby

Queue: Tentative order is Abigail Hobbs from Hannibal, Anabelle Leigh from Elvis & Anabelle, and Fox Mulder from The X-Files. I don't really have plans beyond that, and for now, I like it that way.

DeLuna Fest 2012

This music festival takes place just as I turn 21. I'm most excited because I'd love to see Florence finally and Joan again (saw her last night, will rave about it in another entry) but there are a lot of amazing artists lined up. I want to go. In fact, I want to go so bad that I might just try to go on my own. But I'd rather not! So, is anyone out there interested in attending DeLuna Fest 2012?
